The BAYMEC Community Foundation is an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. BAYMEC Community Foundation emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. In 2013, the Bay Area Muncipal Elections Committee, or BAYMEC for short, decided to establish a nonprofit foundation dedicated to education, services, and issues affecting the local LGBTQ community. BCF is tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by an independent board of directors. In 2019, the BCF board decided to place former Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager as its first Executive Director.

From time to time, BAYMEC Foundation secures funding for a project that fulfills our mission-based work. Our Board members and community volunteers identify projects and raise funds to distribute. We do not accept unsolicited proposals. For all projects, BAYMEC will only fund direct project costs, and does not fund overhead or administration.
